The study is entitled Thyroid Hormone Replacement for Subclinical Hypo-Thyroidism Trial (TRUST), and is funded by a €6 Million grant from the EU's FP7 programme. FP7 is the short name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and runs from 2007 to 2013. It aims to foster and support research in science and technology to address the issues surrounding social, economic, environmental and industrial that affect Europe.
This research is a collaboration between University of Glasgow in Scotland; Leiden University Medical Centre and Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing in the Netherlands; University of Cork in Ireland, and University of Berne in Switzerland. We are also collaborating with thyroid experts from the University of California in the USA.
